Description
Heronden Hall is a building dated 1846, designed in the Jacobean style by the architect Donthorne. It stands two storeys high with attics and is constructed from rubble. The hall features two prominent end gables and a fishscale tiled roof adorned with two sets of clustered twisted chimneys.
The façade includes double oriel windows spanning both storeys, which are fitted with mullioned and transomed diamond-paned windows. A porch with a parapet displays blank shields and octagonal pilasters. The building has a plinth, and the battlements are decorated with a shield bearing the motto "Laus Deo" alongside various heraldic beasts.
The central section of the house features two arched windows with carved figures in the spandrels. Water spouts are designed with moulded iron dogs' or cow's heads, while the rainwater heads are embellished with devil's masks dated 1846, featuring the initials WW intertwined on a shield. An octagonal bell turret is situated on the roof.
To the left of the main building is an attached stable wing, also constructed from rubble blocks and standing two storeys tall, with a slate roof and two blocked mullioned and transomed windows. The gable includes a carriage entrance underneath.
