Description

Westwell is a large, square mansion dated 1711. It is constructed of red brick with a roof featuring four gabled dormers and four tall, symmetrically placed brick chimneys. The building has long and short stone quoins. The ground floor windows have stone architraves and keystones, while a stone cornice sits above the first floor, incorporating a broken pediment above the central window and the date 1711 in the tympanum. The facade has seven tall, narrow windows and two oval windows on the first floor. A doorcase with fluted pilasters, a rectangular fanlight, a large flat hood supported by carved brackets, and a six-panel moulded door marks the main entrance. A second doorcase, similar in style with a high rectangular fanlight, a pediment-shaped hood, and a six-panel moulded door, is located on the east side. This side of the building has four windows and three dormers. Inside, the staircase features three twisted balusters to each step.
