Description
No 25 High Street, dated 1835, was originally a Savings Bank. This building has two storeys and a basement, with a stuccoed exterior. It features a cornice and parapet with a pediment above the two window bays of No 25, which contains a cartouche in the tympanum. The cartouche displays "Invicta 1835" along with a white horse rampant, the symbol of Kent County. The slate roof covers four window bays, with the two window bays of No 25 slightly projecting. The recessed sections on either side of this projection have round-headed recesses on each floor, all of which are blind except for the ground floor of the west wing, which provides access to a passage between Nos 25 and 27. The ground floor features round-headed windows with intact glazing bars. The passageway is paved with stone flags. Nos 19, 19A, 21 to 25 (odd), 25A, 27, 31, and 31A form a group.
