Description
54 High Street is an early 18th-century house that stands two storeys high with attics. The exterior is stuccoed and grooved to resemble masonry, topped with a tiled roof featuring three hipped dormers. The front facing High Street has widely overhanging eaves supported by a row of voluted brackets, with egg and dart moulding beneath. The North Street side has a standard modillion eaves cornice and a half-hipped gable. There are four sash windows and one casement window on the High Street front, while the North Street front has two sash windows and two later bay windows on the first floor. The building also features later shop fronts. This property is part of a group with Nos 34 to 54, with Nos 34 to 44 being of local interest.
