Description
No. 17 Cornmarket is an early 19th-century building featuring three storeys constructed of brick. It has two windows with stucco arches that include keystones, and the windows are hung sashes with glazing bars. A stucco band runs along the cills, and the building is topped with a bracketed cornice and a stuccoed ramped parapet. The ground floor has a late 19th-century office front. A doorway on the side, which has been relocated from another site, is from the 18th century and features an open pediment with a radiating fanlight and Doric attached columns. The door itself consists of six fielded panels with panelled reveals. No. 17, along with the Midland Bank and premises occupied by Masons, Fuller, Chatterton & Haxby, forms a group.
