Description

Wykeham House is a house of considerable age, dating back to the 17th century, with significant alterations and extensions made in the early 19th century and the 20th century. Originally a timber-framed building, it has been substantially modified, notably with the addition of a brick front (facing east) in the 19th century. The roof is slate at the front, with a hipped section to the north, and tiled at the rear. The front elevation has two upper sash windows in reveals, and later casement windows on the ground floor. A modern, angular bay has been added to the south side. A doorcase features a moulded canopy supported by brackets, leading to a door of two boarded panels. The rear of the house reveals various changes across the 18th and 20th centuries, including tiled roofing, areas of tile-hanging, a large brick stack, and a mix of sash and casement windows.
