Description

Witts Cottage is a 16th and 17th century cottage, restored in 1978. It is a colourwashed timber-frame building with plaster infill and some brickwork, forming an L-shape with a three-bay front and a further bay to the rear on the left. The cottage has one-and-a-half storeys. A central 19th-century door leads into the property, while the right bay is blank brickwork and the left bay has a three-light casement window. A two-light casement is found to the left of the centre bay. Above the door is an eyebrow dormer with a large two-light casement, accompanied by two other eyebrow dormers with smaller two-light casements. The half-hipped roof has a decorated ridge piece, and a brick stack sits above the left and centre bays. The timber frame is largely complete and exposed. The left gable displays an original four-light mullioned window.
