Description

Forge Cottage is a 17th and 18th century cottage. It is timber-framed with plaster infill, with later colourwashed brick additions and a plain tile roof. The original structure comprises three bays, including a small central smoke or screen passage bay. Each end features an 18th century brick bay, and there is a wing to the rear on the left. A central doorway has a baffle entry and an open gable timber porch. The bays on either side contain 19th century two-light casement windows, while the left bay retains an 18th century two-light casement. Above the 17th century bays are 20th century gabled dormers, each with a tall three-light casement window. The timber frame is exposed. The roof is half-hipped, with a ridge stack situated above the doorway.
