Description
This lychgate, located 15 meters southwest of St Matthew's Church, was built in 1893 and given by Charlotte Yonge. It features a timber-frame structure set on a high dressed stone plinth, topped with an old plain tile roof. The lychgate has a rectangular plan with a pathway running through the center, flanked by two U-shaped walls that face inward. A pair of gates is hung from the walls on the roadside, and wooden benches are fitted inside the walls. The walls also have carved timber screens between the posts that support the gabled roof, which is adorned with carved bargeboards and a finial cross.
