Description

Cherry Tree Cottage is a cottage dating from around 1900, designed by G H Kitchin. It is constructed of brick with some exposed timber-framing, and has an old plain tile roof. The cottage is arranged in a T-shape, with its end facing the road. A two-storey, two-bay wing is set back and to the left, and to the right is a projecting bay which forms the main body of the house. A hip-roofed porch projects to the left side of the projecting bay, with the roof extending across the front of the wing. A top-glazed door is in the porch, and a narrow outshot with a window curves around the corner of the projecting bay’s left side, the roof extending around a central external stack. Above the porch, the timber-framing is exposed with herringbone brickwork and includes a three-light casement. The left bay has a three-light segmental-head casement on the ground floor and a three-light casement above. The roof is hipped, with wide overhanging eaves supported by wrought iron brackets. External stacks are present at the left end and to the front of the projecting bay.
