Description

The Old Parsonage is a mid-19th century rectory that has been converted into a private residence. It is constructed from squared knapped flint with brick dressings and has a slate roof. The building is asymmetrical, featuring five unequal bays with projecting wings on both the left and right of the central bays at the front, and additional wings at the rear.

The front elevation is two stories high, with the central bay containing a gabled brick porch. This porch has a two-order, three-centred arch with carved bargeboards above heavy planked doors fitted with strap hinges. To the left, there is a two-light steel casement window in its original opening, complete with a hood mould. The right bay features a similar window with a round-headed leaded lozenge pane casement.

On the first floor, above these bays, there are round-headed two-light casements set on corbelled brick sills, with their heads located in gabled dormers that also have carved bargeboards supported by carved brackets. The left projecting wing has an external stack and carved bargeboards, while the other wing includes a canted hip-roofed bay with steel windows, a three-light steel window in its original opening, and a pointed opening in the gable adorned with carved bargeboards.

Chimneys with four octagonal shafts are positioned to the right of each wing on the main roof, and the end of the left wing features two octagonal shafts, with additional shafts on the chimneys of the rear wings.
