Description
Offwell Farmhouse is a house dating from the early 18th century, with alterations from the early 19th century and extensions from the mid 19th century. The walls are constructed of brickwork in Flemish Garden Wall bond with cambered openings, while other walls are in Flemish bond, featuring blue headers on the south wing. Some areas have tile-hanging. The roof is tiled, with a catslide at the rear and a hip above a narrow rear staircase block, while the wings have gables that end in a hip above a single-storey section.
The main block has a projecting east wing on the south side, which leads to a south wing that drops to a single-storey, creating a Z-shape. The east front was originally symmetrical with two storeys and five windows, but this has now been reduced to two windows, with the south side obscured by the wing. The early 19th-century sashes are in exposed frames. There is a gabled brick porch with an arched opening. Other elevations display irregular fenestration, featuring casements and a sash window at the stairway. Inside, the original staircase remains, with an adjusted lowest flight, turned balusters, and slatted balusters on the top flight.
