Description

Nos 29 and 31 on West Street are two cottages dating from the 17th century, with a 18th-century extension at number 29 and early 19th-century recladding. The exposed timber frame is visible on the west side of number 31, which features brick infill and lower walls constructed in Flemish Garden Wall bond. The rear wall and west outshot are also made of brick and include a series of pilasters. The cottages have a thatched roof that is hipped, with an extension to a lower eaves above the outshot and a catslide at the rear. The south front elevation is two storeys high, with three windows above a set-back outshot at the west end that contains a doorway. The windows are casements, and the doorways are plain.
