Description

Tavy Cottage and Yeoman's Cottage is a house that has been converted into two cottages. It dates from the early 18th century, with a brick dated 'ES 1714', and was subdivided and extended in the mid-19th century, with some alterations in the 20th century. The building features reddish brick in Flemish bond on a brick and flint plinth, with 19th-century additions made of flint with brick dressings and a plain tile roof. It originally had an end-entry plan and is two storeys high with three bays, plus two additional rear bays from the 19th century.

The entrance elevation includes a platt band and segmental brick-arched window openings on the ground floor. Each cottage has a 20th-century door, with the door to Tavy Cottage located in a late 20th-century gabled porch. There is a late 20th-century small-pane window in the center of the ground floor, while the other windows are 20th-century three-light wood casements. The roof is half-hipped on the left side, and there are stacks at the right end and along the ridge between the left-hand bays.

At the rear, the 19th-century bay additions have been raised in brick, and the ground floor windows of the main range feature flat header-brick arches. On the left return, the original doorway in the center has been bricked up, along with a small opening below the eaves. Inside, there are chamfered beams, original joists, and a roof structure with collared principal rafters, staggered butt purlins, and old rafters.
