Description

The Old Post Office is a house, originally serving as a post office, dating to the 17th and 18th centuries. The building was originally timber-framed but was rebuilt in brick, now rendered with incised lines, and has an old plain tiled roof. It is two storeys high with a projecting section at the rear, and has a four-window front. The entrance door is in the inner right bay, dating to the 18th century; it is a four-panelled door set within a camber headed doorframe. Windows are early 19th century, predominantly 2-light casements with horizontal glazing bars, with a 3-light casement to the right of the door and a smaller window above the door. The roof is half-hipped, with an 18th-century ridge stack located to the right of the door. A letterbox is set into the wall at the right end of the ground floor. Three 18th-century 12-pane sash windows are visible in the right gable wall.
