Description
East Cottage and Honor End Farmhouse comprise two houses, dating largely to the late 16th century, with substantial alterations made throughout subsequent centuries. A front wing was rebuilt in the mid-to-late 18th century using vitreous brick with red brick dressings. Features include an off-set plinth, a moulded first-floor band course, and gauged brick window heads. The left gable has been rendered and colourwashed. The roof is tiled, with a brick chimney on the left side. The houses originally had three bays, but the openings have been altered; blocked windows are visible on the left, while the centre and upper right bays contain four-pane sashes. A half-glazed door is situated on the right. A lower extension to the right is constructed of red and vitreous brick to the ground floor, with later 19th-century brick above, and features a bay of four-pane sashes. A rear wing, forming an L-shaped plan, was rebuilt in brick in the early 19th century and has a tiled roof. The far gable and central chimney were rebuilt in 1954. This wing is two storeys high, with two bays of leaded casements, and an entry in the far gable. The interior of the rear wing retains traces of timber framing, including a moulded spine beam with run-out stops in the far bay.
