Description
The lodge at the east entrance to the Old Rectory is a mid-19th century building. It is constructed of knapped flint with unknapped flint used for the quoins and window surrounds. The roof is hipped and thatched, featuring a spirally fluted brick chimney situated between the left bays. The lodge is one storey high and consists of three bays, with the left bay being taller than the others. It has three-light transomed wooden casements that include leaded top-lights, and the thatch is raised in a segmental arch over each window. There are semi-circular arched niches located between the windows. A 20th-century door is positioned on the left side. The left side and a small rear wing have brick dressings, with the rear wing featuring an octagonal brick chimney shaft. The right side and a 20th-century extension to the rear are both constructed of brick.
