Description
Moat Farm is a building dating from the 15th or 16th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 17th and 18th centuries and later. It has a T-plan layout and is constructed with a timber frame that is cased in 18th-century brick, topped with a tiled roof. The front facing the road features a flint plinth on the left, a first-floor band, and a modern gabled porch in the center flanked by three-light modern leaded casements on either side. There are two similar windows on the first floor, with a two-light window in the center. The rear wing has a flint and brick wall to the north, with one three-light casement window on each floor, while the south elevation is made of brick and stone roughcast, with a weatherboarded outbuilding attached to the east end. Inside, the rear wing contains an arch-braced roof from a late medieval hallhouse and is floored in the 17th century, featuring chamfered oak beams and joists. A fireplace lintel bears the date 1687.
