Description

SU 61 SW DENMEAD WORLD'S END 10/31 Pillar box II Post box of early type. c1860. Cast-iron pillar box, with hexagonal head and cylindrical body. There is a simple pattern on the convex top, with a cavetto moulding (containing the letter opening covered by a flap) above two bands, and a moulding above the wider base. The box carries the raised lettering "Cochrane & Co, Woodside Works, Dudley 1859". Said to have been originally in London.
