Description

BEECHES AVENUE 1. 4430 CARSHALTON Pillar Box outside No 56 TQ 2763 33/6 II 2. An example of the larger version of hexagonal cast-iron pillar box designed by J W Penfold in 1865 for the London area; produced 1866 to 79 by Cochrane and Co. Ogee domed top decorated with foliage; oval finial. Royal coat of arms above opening for letters. Initials VR applied to door of pillar box.
