Description

The sewage ventilation column, built in 1903, is located at the corner of Stanley Road and Stanley Park Road in Carshalton. It is part of a system designed by Baldwin Latham.

This column is made of cast iron and has a circular shape, standing approximately 9 meters high. It features two pipes connected by a prominent flanged joint at the midpoint. The base has a moulded top, and at the top of the column, there is an astylar capital supporting a globe with four flared vents. The finial is richly detailed, including a weather vane shaped like an arrow and a filigree crown topped with a spear.
