Description
The building known as the stables, located 25 metres east of Longwood in Bishops Waltham, was originally constructed in the mid-19th century as stables and a coachhouse. It is now part of the adjoining property and is used as garages and a small assembly room. The walls are made of brick in Flemish Garden Wall bond, featuring cambered openings and brick dentil eaves. The south gable is constructed of flint with brick quoins, while the north end, which is a later extension, is boarded. The stable section is two storeys tall and symmetrical, with a gable, a window above a central door, and flanking windows. The coach house section extends as a tall single storey on the north side. The building has casement windows, plain doors, and carriage doors.
