Description
Northbrook House is a large house, now used as offices, dating from the late 18th century with extensions added in the early 19th century. The house has stucco walls, a plinth, a band marking the first floor, a moulded cornice, and a coping to the parapet. The south wall is tile-hung, and the rear wall lacks a first-floor band. Stone sills are present throughout. The roof is slate-covered. The original block features a projecting wing to the north, with a later extension set back behind it. Lower service wings are located at the north corner.
The south-east front elevation has two storeys and a 3-window, 3-window, 2-window arrangement. The windows are sash windows set in reveals. A porch of Doric Order is positioned in the third bay, featuring dentils, triglyphs, two smooth pilasters and columns, a wide arched opening with a radiating fanlight, and coupled half-glazed doors.
Inside, original fireplaces, decorative ceiling cornices, and panelled doors within architraves remain.
