Description

Dodds Nook is a house dating from the 17th century, substantially re-clad in the early 18th century, with a further north extension added in the early 19th century. The walls are of brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with rubbed flat arches. The north extension is also of Flemish bond, featuring blue headers, cambered openings, and dentil eaves. The roof is tiled, with a hipped design over the extension.

The house is positioned at a right angle to the roadway and adjoins the rear of the Court House. The east front elevation is largely one storey and attic, with a two-storey section, and has a 1-2-1 window arrangement. Casement windows are present. A doorway has an open pediment supported by carved brackets, an architrave, and a two-panelled door. The taller north extension, originally a stable and now a garage with an upper room, resembles a crosswing. Two bricks on the south side are inscribed “IM 1721” and “MM 1721”. The original timber frame is visible internally.
