Description

Hope House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with extensions added in the early 19th century and later alterations in the late 19th century. The walls are constructed of brickwork in a Flemish bond pattern, featuring blue headers and rubbed flat arches, with some areas in a Monk bond pattern, as well as a tile hanging that includes scalloped bands in the south gables. The roof is tiled and hipped at the east end, with three gables facing the south elevation.

The house is set at a right angle to the roadway. The north front is two storeys and has an attic, with three windows. It features casement windows and an early 19th-century doorcase consisting of an open pediment on thin pilasters, a Gothic fanlight (now filled), and a six-panelled door with four glazed panels. A second entrance is located facing the street. The south (garden) elevation includes a two-storeyed Victorian bay window on the west side.
