Description

The stables and adjoining coach house, located approximately 40 metres east of The Hall, date from the mid-18th century and consist of two buildings, with a later addition for the coach house. They are constructed from red brick and feature pantile roofs.

The stables have a central section designed for four stalls, flanked by a tack-room on the left and a store-room on the right. This single-storey stable range has a layout of 1:3:1 bays, with the central bays projecting forward. The stables feature a central board door with an 8-pane overlight beneath a cambered arch, flanked by single recessed oval windows set in architraves. The tack-room on the left includes a board door and a 3-pane overlight beneath a cambered arch, while the store-room on the right has a painted dummy 12-pane window with a sill and cambered arch. All openings are topped with rubbed brick arches, and the eaves are stepped. The roof of the stable block is hipped at the right end.

The coach house, which is single-storey with an attic and consists of a single bay, has a round-headed keyed arch for the carriage entrance. The raised gable features tumbled-in brick and a circular wooden hatch with a central circular hole surrounded by six round-headed dove-holes. The rear gable of the coach house includes an oculus with radial glazing bars. The adjoining garden walls and conservatory are not of special interest.
