Description
No. 5 High Street is a 17th-century timber-framed house with a lobby entrance. It features an 18th-century rear outshot, early 19th-century refronting, and 20th-century renovations. The exterior is finished in colourwashed brickwork laid in English bond, with slightly cambered arches and a flat extrados. It has a plinth on a rubble stone base, a tile-hung south gable, and a rendered north gable. The roof is half-hipped with a catslide at the rear. The symmetrical east front elevation has two storeys and an attic, with three windows that are casements. The entrance includes a four-panelled door with panelled side pieces. Attached to the south side is a single-storey workshop, which was formerly a forge, constructed with flint walls and a slate roof, and has been extended and renovated in the 20th century.
