Description
South Lodge is a house dating from the 18th century, with minor changes made in the 19th century at the rear. The walls are constructed of blue brick headers, featuring red quoins, rubbed flat arches, and a plinth, while the east wall is built in Flemish bond. The roof is hipped and covered with tiles, with a catslide at the rear and coved eaves. The staircase wing at the back has a high hipped roof, which is flanked by later small gabled dormers. The symmetrical south front elevation is two storeys high and has three windows, with sashes set in exposed frames. A tall trellis porch from the mid-19th century adds to the shallow depth of the entrance. Inside, the staircase features an unusual Chinese pattern of rails, along with panelled doors in eared architraves and dado panelling in the hall.
