Description
House, dating from the 18th century with early 19th-century additions. It was originally two houses. The building is stuccoed with a tile roof. It occupies a long, curving frontage, with the largest western part being symmetrical and of two storeys and an attic, featuring five windows. To the east of this is a lower block with a symmetrical western part of two storeys and three windows, the eastern part being plain, and a single-storey service wing incorporating a carriage entrance. The main block has a plinth and a moulded eaves cornice with modillions. The windows are sash windows in exposed frames. The doorway has a dentilled Doric Order of fluted columns, panelled reveals, a concave open pediment with soffit ornament, enclosing an arched opening with a radiating fanlight and a seven-panelled door (with a glazed single top panel) above stone steps. The eastern section has Victorian sash windows within architraves (with a frieze and cornice to the ground floor) and a doorcase with a segmental pediment, carved brackets, a plain fanlight, and a four-panelled door. The service wing has three sashes of different sizes and a plain carriage entrance. The rear of the building, as viewed from the churchyard, displays a gabled projecting western wing of tile and brickwork (English bond), and to the east of this a double hipped roof above stuccoed walling, containing sash windows.
