Description
This is a late 18th-century house, which was a bank at the time of its listing. It is constructed of brick with a tile roof. The front (south side) is symmetrical, with a design of 2 windows, with a central 1 window section, set over two storeys and with an attic. The brickwork is distinctive, using blue headers with flush red quoins and brick dressings. Features include a plinth, a band above the ground floor, rubbed flat arches over the windows, stone sills, a parapet with coping stones and a moulded band. The centre of the parapet rises as a pediment, framing an arched window, with moulded caps set above wide, full-height pilasters. Victorian sash windows are set within the reveals. The doorcase has a pediment with a dentil cornice that projects at each side, a fluted frieze, thin pilasters below console brackets, an architrave and panelled reveals, leading to a six-panelled door. Two flat-roofed dormers are present, each with a sash window. Lead rainwater pipes run down each side of the central feature, topped with moulded hopper heads. Rear extensions of various periods indicate the former presence of an earlier structure, one section featuring a parapet, brick dentilled bands, and an upper Venetian window.
