Description

The Statue of Alfred the Great, located on the south side of High Street, is a Grade II listed monument created by Sir William Hamo Thornycroft. This statue features a standing bronze figure set on a rough block granite base. It is inscribed with the words 'Aelfred, To the Founder of the Kingdom and Nation'.
