Description

The King Alfred Monument is located in the center of Pewsey Market Place and was erected in 1913. It features a tapered, panelled base set on two steps. Atop the base stands a life-sized statue of King Alfred, depicted cloaked and crowned, holding a long sword and an oval shield. The monument commemorates the Coronation of 1911, recognizing Alfred's historical connection to the land in Pewsey.
