Description

Bridge Cottage comprises two cottages built in a row, dating to the 17th century. The cottages are timber-framed with colourwashed infilling, and have a thatched roof. Originally a single storey with an attic, part of the building was later raised to two storeys, and the entire structure was subsequently raised to two storeys. The cottages have four bays. The timber framing is four panels high and has been significantly altered. The ground floor features four canted bays, while the upper floor has three-light casement windows. There are brick stacks at the gables and on the party wall. Part of the roof is hipped. The original building consisted of two bays, which were extended at both ends in the 17th century, with further extensions added to the rear in the 20th century. The cottages occupy a prominent position in the centre of Pewsey.
