Description
Eastgate House is a building that dates from around the 1830s and is currently used as offices. It is constructed of red brick with stucco dressings and features a hipped slate roof with deep bracketed eaves. The brick stacks on the sides have been rebuilt.
The house has a rectangular, likely double-depth plan with a central entrance and is designed in the Italianate style. The exterior consists of two storeys with a symmetrical three-bay west front. This front has rusticated stucco quoins and a rusticated ground floor that includes a moulded stringcourse. Both the ground and first floors feature 12-pane sash windows, with the ground floor windows set in rusticated architraves, and the left window having margin panes. The first-floor windows are in moulded architraves with pediments, while the central window has a segmental pediment. The second floor has 9-pane sashes in moulded architraves. The central doorway is adorned with a glazed and panelled door, a rectangular overlight, and a moulded canopy cornice supported by console brackets. The right corner of the ground floor is splayed. On the south side, there are 12-pane sashes on both the ground and first floors, while the rear features sash windows with glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected.
