Description
A.E. Jannaway is a house and shop located on the east side of High Street in Bishops Waltham. It dates from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the early and mid-19th century. The building features brick walls laid in Flemish bond, with blue headers and rubbed flat arches, including a Coade stone keystone at the ground floor. It has a cement plinth and a tiled roof with an eaves cornice that includes mouldings and plaster coving. The symmetrical west front elevation has two storeys and three windows, with sash windows set in exposed frames. The early 19th-century doorcase includes a cornice, panelled pilasters with carved brackets, and a six-panelled door, four of which are glazed. The south side of the building features a Victorian shopfront, complete with a cornice, decorative window heads, and a shop door.
