Description

10 Market Place is an 18th-century building of three storeys and a parapet, situated on the west side of Market Place. It is higher than, and set back from, numbers 8 and 9. The building is constructed of brick, with a stone string course at the level of the first floor and a moulded brick string course at the level of the second floor. A moulded brick cornice sits above the string course, surmounted by a brick parapet incorporating segmental-headed panels of vitreous brick over the windows. The upper floors contain four segmental-headed windows with sash windows retaining their original glazing bars, rubbed brick voussoirs, and keystones. The ground floor has three similar windows, which are modern. A modern double entrance with six panels, set within a stone doorcase in the Doric style, is located on the south side. The building is part of a group value with other listed buildings in Corn Market and Market Place.
