Description

The Statue of Lord Palmerston, located in Market Place, is a Grade II listed bronze statue of the 3rd Viscount Palmerston, created by Matthew Noble in 1868. The statue depicts Palmerston standing with his weight on his right leg and his left leg slightly forward. He is dressed in contemporary attire, including a frock coat, with his left arm resting on his hip and holding a manuscript in his left hand. His right arm is extended outward and forward, with an open hand. The statue stands on a tall pink marble plinth, which features the inscription "Palmerston." This statue is part of a group of listed buildings in Corn Market and Market Place.
