Description

The Romsey Working Men's Conservative Association is a building with a core that dates back to the 17th century or earlier, which has been extensively renovated between 1967 and 1968. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and features a modern hipped roof covered in tiles. The attic is divided into two sections, each with a large window area and a hipped tile roof above, cantilevered out on joists over the first floor. Some old, possibly original timbers can be found in the ceiling and walls of the western part of the attic, where each section includes one three-light casement window and has a colourwashed wall. The attic on the left side extends northwards above the north-west front of the building.

On the first floor, there is modern applied timber-framing with colourwashed infilling, three modern four-light casement windows with lead glazing, and a moulded brick string course between the first and ground floors. The ground floor is built of modern red brick on a low plinth and features three modern four-light casement windows with lead glazing, each with wooden lintels and moulded wood frames. The arrangement includes one window to the right and two to the left of the flat arched doorway, which has a wooden door topped with a shallow elliptical case of carved wood.

The building has been extended at the north-west end, creating a section that projects beyond the attic storey and consists of two facets. The narrower facet facing west has one two-light casement window on each floor, while the wider facet facing north-west has one four-light casement window on each floor. All the listed buildings in Corn Market and Market Place form a group.
