Description
No. 7 Market Place is an early 18th century building that stands three stories tall. It is constructed of brick and features a plain string course at the first floor and a moulded string course at the second floor levels. The building has a moulded and coved wood cornice and a modern tiled roof. The upper floors have four segmental-headed sash windows with moulded architrave frames; the first floor windows have glazing bars, while the upper floors do not. Rubbled brick voussoirs are present above the windows, and there are wrought iron balconettes on the first floor windows.
The ground floor showcases a fine early 19th century shop front with a symmetrical design. It has a central window featuring a "Gothic" glazing pattern in the uppermost tier, flanked by two doors, each with rectangular fanlights of a "Gothic" pattern. The southern door is a house door with six panels and rosette ornamentation on the panel mouldings, while the northern door, which serves as the shop entrance, is glazed.
This building is part of a group with other listed buildings in Corn Market and Market Place.
