Description

The coach-house and courtyard wall, dating from 1835, was converted from the stable and coach-house of Kimpton House, which has since been replaced. The building features flint and brick construction topped with a hipped slate roof. The front elevation, facing east, is wide and symmetrical, consisting of two storeys with a configuration of one, two, and one windows. A deep parapet, which contains the upper windows, is adorned with flint panels and stone coping that curves upwards above each opening, creating a semi-circular head above the windows. The parapet's slightly projecting sides feature circular flint panels. A plain stone band separates the parapet from the main walls, which showcase six horizontal flint panels interspersed with brick quoins and recesses for the openings, a design that is echoed at the sides for the upper openings. The windows are modern casements from the 20th century. A central 20th-century porch made of brickwork features an entablature that extends forward above corner Tuscan columns, with a door flanked by windows. The elevation is repeated in two bays at each end, with the northern side including an attached stack and a flat-roofed garage wing. At the rear, the courtyard is enclosed by a high wall made of brickwork with flint panels.
