Description

The coach house and stable block, dating from the early to mid-19th century with 20th-century alterations, forms a substantial enclosure around a central courtyard. Constructed of red brick with a hipped plain tile roof, the building encompasses the south, east, and west sides of the courtyard, originally entered from the south.

The south front features a central two-storey block with a moulded parapet band leading to a plain parapet, and flanking single-storey wings with attics. The central block has a central four-centred carriage arch and 20th-century casements. The left wing has a blocked carriage arch flanked by a pair of segmental arched doors; it also includes glazing bar sashes and an attic dormer with a hipped roof and casement. The right wing has a segmental arched door, three segmental arched windows, and a 20th-century casement, with a dormer above.

Within the courtyard, the south range is two-storey with a moulded parapet band and a plain parapet, and flanking wings with attics lit by skylights. The east range, single-storey and with a loft, has a central break with a shaped gable, a four-centred arch, and a circular boarded opening above. To the left are two smaller carriage arches, while the right-hand side has undergone significant 20th-century alterations, now featuring one first-floor casement and two ground-floor casements, along with a porch. The west range, also single-storey and with a loft, exhibits a similar design with a shaped gable, a four-centred carriage arch, and a circular boarded loft opening. It features a four-centred arch door flanked by glazing bar sashes on either side. A 20th-century porch is set diagonally in the left-hand corner of the yard.

Attached garden walls extend from the north-west and south-west angles, the latter connecting the coach house and stables to the Gatehouse.
