Description
Oakley Farmhouse is a farmhouse that underwent remodelling in the late 18th century and early 19th century, although it is based on an earlier building. The structure is primarily made of brick, featuring some stone quoins, with a slate roof and a tiled roof on the earlier section. The earlier building has a late 18th century range added parallel to it, and an early 19th century wing was added to one end, creating the appearance of a square building.
The south front displays elements from both the late 18th and early 19th centuries. To the left, there is a late 18th century bay, which is the end of that range, and a two-bay early 19th century wing that is two stories high. Between the bays of the 19th century wing is a gabled brick porch that is open to the front, featuring a four-panel door inside. Each side of the building has 16-pane sash windows on both floors, while the wider left bay on both floors has 20-pane sashes. The roof is hipped to the left, with stacks at each end of the 19th century part.
The west front consists of three bays and features a central gabled brick porch with a casement window above it. Each side of this front also has 20-pane sashes on both floors, and the building is accented with stone quoins. The roof here is also hipped, and all windows are topped with rubbed brick arches.
