Description
Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse built in the early 18th century, with a facade from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick, featuring a gault brick south facade, and has slate roofs. The south facade, dating from the 19th century, is two storeys high and consists of five bays, with the central bay projecting forward. The centre and side bays are rebated, with the side bays paired. There is a half-glazed central panelled door beneath an overlight, and a Doric portico porch supported by fluted columns and plain pilasters. The entablature features a triglyph frieze. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, set beneath gauged skewback arches. A timber eaves cornice with paired modillions runs along the roofline, which is gabled and has internal end stacks. The returns of the building have deep moulded brick platbands, with plain tiled top edges. The west return extends into an 18th-century cross wing, which has a facade on the west gable with four blocked windows. The east gable head has been rebuilt. The 18th-century cross wing is lit by various 19th and 20th-century sashes and casements, and there are further 19th-century extensions to the north.
