Description
The Barn at Home Farm is an early 18th-century aisled barn constructed of brick and thatch. It features a gabled transept entrance on the east side with double timber doors and a rebuilt gable head. The main wall has a set-off at the plinth and two diamond-shaped ventilation holes on each side of the transept, located under the eaves. The barn has a gabled roof, with the gable heads supported by moulded kneelers. On the west side, there are opposing double timber doors, with weatherboarding above, beneath the swept thatching, and two diamond ventilation holes on either side, similar to the east side. The doorway is flanked by rendered sloping buttresses.
Inside, there are four aisle posts set in concrete sockets. The posts are square in section and chamfered at the corners. Three straight braces rise from each post to the arcade plates and tie beams. From the tie beams, Queen struts extend to the lower of the two tiers of butt purlins, while the upper tier features curved windbracing and collars.
