Description
The Chimneys is a house dated 1740, with alterations made in 1895. It is constructed of whitewashed brick and thatch and stands two storeys high with eight irregular bays. The corners feature clasping pilasters. A late 20th-century door is located under a sloping hood in the third bay from the left. The ground floor has seven cross casements with two or three lights, which are from the 18th century, all set under segmental arches. The first floor contains six casements from 1895, four of which are positioned under gablets that extend into the roof, also dating from 1895. The house has a gabled roof with two ridge stacks. At the north end, there are two bays that were originally stables with a hay loft on the first floor, now converted into a garage. At the rear, there is a segmental arched carriage entrance with a stable window to the left, and above it is a hay loft door. The interior of the house is entirely from the 20th century, and the roof was also replaced in 1895.
