Description
Inglenook is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of brick, which is largely covered in a colour wash, and features a pantile roof. The building has an L-shaped plan, consisting of a central entrance hall with two rooms at the front and a two-room wing to the rear right. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has three symmetrical bays.
The entrance has an unsympathetic recessed 20th-century half-glazed door in the original opening, which is beneath a cambered brick arch. The windows are recessed 20th-century casements with glazing bars and sills, also beneath similar arches. The eaves are stepped in brick, and the gables are raised and capped with brick. The end stacks have been rebuilt, and there is a blocked attic window on the right return. To the left, there is a 20th-century shop addition that is of no special interest.
Inside, the house features spine beams and exposed joists, although the interior has not been fully investigated.
