Description
The windmill tower at Mill Farm is a Grade II listed structure dating from around 1824. It is built of brick and features a corrugated iron roof. The tower is tapered and consists of four storeys. On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century board door on the east side beneath a 20th-century brick soldier arch, along with a stable door on the south side that was likely added later. There are two windows with sills beneath segmental header arches, as well as an inserted segmental-headed window. Each of the upper floors has a single segmental-headed window with sills on the east and west sides, most of which have frames for top-hung casements but no glazing. The tower is topped with a stepped and cogged brick cornice and has a flat roof. It formerly had four sails that drove three sets of stones but ceased operation in the early 1940s. By 1978, only the wooden upright shaft of the internal gear remained. The interior has not been investigated, and the tower was empty and disused at the time of the last survey.
