Description

Little Ormesby Hall is a house dating from the mid-18th century, constructed of brick with roofs made of black glazed pantiles. The south facade features three storeys arranged in five bays, with the upper storey set above a deep moulded brick string course. There is a central blind sash window on the ground floor, flanked by two French windows that have shutters and overlights. The first and second floors contain sash windows with glazing bars, all set beneath gauged skewback arches. A high parapet conceals the hipped roof, and the building has finely jointed rusticated quoins at the corners.

To the southwest, there is a one-storey brick quadrant that terminates in a doorway flanked by two brick piers topped with urns as finials. The doorway features panelled double doors within an Ionic doorcase, complete with a decorated frieze and a dentiled parapet, leading into a summerhouse. The northwest return of the building is also quadrant-shaped, with sash windows that have glazing bars and gauged skewback arches, and a parapet made of openwork Indian tiles.

At the rear, there are large three-storey whitewashed 19th-century brick extensions. Inside, the staircase is notable for its bobbin, block, and turned balusters, along with ramped handrails. One room in the 19th-century wing features re-used timberwork from the 16th century, while the rest of the interior is of lesser interest.
