Description
Ormesby Manor is a house dating from around 1800, with an Italianate villa added to the front in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of gault brick, which is whitewashed at the rear, and features slate roofs. The villa consists of two wings that meet at right angles, with a taller circular tower at the junction. The south wing is two storeys high and has four bays. The ground floor displays rebated arches that imitate a loggia, with sash windows set within them. The left bay features a 20th-century door beneath a flat porch. All sash windows have glazing bars and shutters, and the wing has deep overhanging eaves. The east wing is two and a half storeys tall, with a central glazed door and sash windows similar to those in the south wing, also with shutters and overhanging eaves. Both wings have low hipped roofs, each with a discreet chimney stack. The south-west corner is marked by a three-storey circular tower with five bays, two of which are window bays. The ground floor windows are sashes set within recessed arches, with alternate bays recessed. The top floor features five round lights beneath a rendered parapet that conceals a glazed dome.
