Description
This icehouse, located 100 meters northwest of Mottisfont Abbey, dates from the 19th century. It features a brick chamber and vault, with stone retaining walls, all covered by earth. Access is gained through a cutting from the nearby stable, leading into a barrel-vaulted passageway. This passageway has stone retaining walls on either side at the entrance and extends 5 meters into an opening in the vault of the chamber. The chamber itself is 5 meters in diameter and 5 meters deep, with a circular drain located at the center of the bottom.
